University of Arizona to release report on deaths

PHOENIX (AP) - The University of Arizona plans to release a report detailing deaths of migrants in the desert from data reviewed dating back to 1990.

University researchers from the school's Binational Migration Institute and the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner will present the findings Wednesday morning in Tucson.

The researchers say the report provides information on the characteristics and demographics of the more than 2,000 people whose bodies have been found in southern Arizona since 1990. The report explains how the findings have fluctuated over the years as patterns of travel have changed and border security in the U.S. has increased.
