National Guard troops to train in eastern Arizona
SHOW LOW, Ariz. (AP) - National Guard troops from Arizona and Montana are participating in a multi-agency exercise near the eastern Arizona town of Show Low.
According to the Arizona Guard, the purpose of the exercise is to ensure regional readiness in the event of a chemical, biological or radiological exposure emergency.
The Guard units participating are 91st Civil Support Team from Arizona and the 83rd Civil Support Team from Montana.
Elements of the exercise include personnel working in full hazardous material suits and deploying to exercise sites by helicopter.
Federal agencies, Navajo County, Summit Regional Hospital and police from Show Low, Snowflake, Taylor and Pine Top also are participating.
The exercise starts Tuesday and runs through Thursday.
