TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man has passed away following a motorcycle accident on Tucson's southeast side in which the man was thrown from the bike.
Emergency medical personnel responded to a motorcycle accident near south Alvernon Way and east 31st Street just before 8:00 p.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. Maria Hawke with the Tucson Police Department.
Once on scene, crews discovered that the motorcyclist, 45-year-old Javier Rascon, was suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Crews transported Rascon to the hospital for treatment, but he died as a result of his injuries early Sunday morning, Hawke says.
During the investigation, traffic detectives determined that Rascon was riding his 2001 Honda CF4 when he lost control of the motorcycle near the intersection of Alvernon Way and 31st Street, according to Hawke.
Rascon's motorcycle hit a guardrail and he was thrown from the bike, Hawke says.
He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and it did not appear that Rascon was speeding. No other vehicles were involved in the collision, according to Hawke.
