Boy in stable conditions following near-drowning in Marana

By Taylor Higgins. CREATED Jun 2, 2013
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A young boy is in critical condition after nearly drowning in a public pool in Marana.

Capt. Adam Goldberg with the Northwest Fire District tells KGUN9 that an 8-year-old boy was found unconscious in a pool at Ora Mae Harn District Park, located at 13250 N. Lon Adams Road, in Marana just after 12:00 p.m. Sunday.

Life guards pulled the boy from the pool and immediately began trying to revive him, Goldberg says.

Goldberg tells KGUN9 the boy was submerged under water for up to four minutes, but he began to stabilize once crews administered first aid.

Emergency medical personnel air-lifted the boy to the hospital.

Goldberg says the boy is now in stable condition and that he is up and talking.

At this time, investigators are still not sure of the events leading up to the near-drowning.
