TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A tragic ending to what police say started as a fight between two teens in a Midtown apartment complex parking lot. Police say the deadly stabbing happened Friday, just before ten.
According to police, 14-year-old Mike Garcia and a 15-year-old boy got into a fight, Friday. They both pulled out knives, stabbing each other. Garcia later died at a nearby hospital.
"We were really close. He was like a part of my family," friend and classmate Ramona Tapia told 9OYS.
Neighbors whose balconies back up to the parking lot say it is strange. They did not hear anything until someone yelled to call 911.
"It was terrifying because I never witnessed someone so close laying in front of me, I mean you could tell that he was obviously hurt," nearby neighbor Nicole Hughess said.
"You know what really got to me is seeing someone laying there in blood," another neighbor added.
Police have not released the name of the 15-year-old boy involved in the late-night-fight. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made. Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
