TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Southbound lanes of Interstate 17, north of Phoenix are back open after a fatal collision closed those lanes Saturday morning.
Emergency medical personnel and crews with the Arizona Department of Transportation responded to a fatal collision on southbound 1-17, at Sunset Point, Saturday morning, according to Garin Groff with ADOT.
The collision caused an extended closure in the area, Groff says.
A second collision also caused delays on northbound I-17, near Black Canyon City, Groff says.
Groff tells KGUN9 that the northbound lanes were backed up for miles following that collision.
Traffic may continue to cause delays throughout Saturday afternoon. Drivers should consider taking either State Route 87 through Payson or State Route 89 through Prescott.
