Amphi students win Congressional art award

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Two Amphitheater School District students won the 2013 Congressional Art Competition.

Stephanie Spalding, a 2013 graduate won the Arizona Congressional Art Award in District One. Her work will be on display in the halls of Congress for one year.

She will fly to D.C. next month to receive the award and watch the dedication of the Congressional Art Award exhibit.

Jose Coronado won the award for District three.

Congressman Raul Grijalva presented Jose with the award on May 2. Jose is going into his senior year at Amphitheater High School. He will be flown to D.C. in June for the opening of the exhibit.

The first runner-up was also a Ironwood Ridge High School senior.

Canyon Del Oro 2013 graduate Charles Corning is one of the third runners-up.

Runners-up artwork will be displayed in Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick's Washington D.C. and district offices.

A ceremony will be held to honor all the winners on May 31.
