ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - "Inappropriate relationship with a student": Five words swirling around Ironwood Ridge High School a lot recently. Months back the culprit was Melissa Dalton. This week the attention now on Robert Brush.
"There's alot of sensitivity and al ot of people being really leary, being safe rather than sorry," said Rafael Gallego, Brush's attorney. "The timing is certainly not in Bobby's best interest right now."
9OYS has uncovered that just 12 days ago Brush flew out of Tucson. It was all for a five day school sponsored trip to Orlando. He was one of two chaperones, plus 10 other students who made the trip to a DECA conference. Brush was the adviser for the DECA group at Ironwood Ridge.
"He's a very passionate teacher he loves his job," said Gallego. "He wants the comunity to know he's not a danger to anybody."
But Oro Valley police arrested him. He appeared before a judge earlier Friday accused of having sex with a minor, a student. And this wasn't the first time. Allegations surfaced last March.
"Mr. Brush is adamant he did nothing wrong," said Gallego.
His attorney describes his client as a happily married family man with two children. He says once all the facts surface, Brush's name will be cleared.
