South side house fire leaves three without a home
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson Fire crews responded to a house fire near 36th Street and Kino Parkway Thursday that left three people without a home.
Capt. Chris Jurvig with TFD tells KGUN9 that multiple 911 calls came in to report a fire in the 2000 block of east Poquita Vista.
Fire crews arrived six minutes later and found half the home on fire.
The three residents had evacuated safely prior to crews arriving.
Firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof using a chainsaw, and were able to keep the fire from spreading into the attic space which limited damage.
It took 11 units and 26 firefighters to bring the fire under control in 12 minutes.
No injuries were reported to crews or residents.
The Red Cross is assisting the two adults and child displaced by the fire with food and housing.
The home has been deemed a complete loss.
Damages are estimated at $100,000.
