Three boys arrested for setting string of alley fires
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson Police have arrested three boys for setting a string of alley fires on the east side.
Sgt. Maria Hawke with TPD tells KGUN9 that the boys, ages 11, 11 and 12 were arrested for several counts of reckless burning and arson of property, both felony offenses.
Hawke says TPD and TFD have been working together to investigate the fires that took place in a neighborhood near East 22nd Street and South Wilmot Road.
Since April 16, Hawke says police have responded to at least 20 different fires in that area.
On May 12, officers responded to seven different alley fires in the area.
Police also responded to several fires on April 26 and 28.
Detectives were able to identify three juveniles and located them Thursday.
Police believe other juveniles may be involved in setting these fires. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
