Deputies searching for two purse snatchers

CREATED May. 14, 2013

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department are asking the public for help in locating two purse snatching suspects.

Deputy Jesus Banuelos tells KGUN9 that on April 27, deputies responded to the Safeway at 4752 East Sunrise Drive regarding an attempted robbery.

Deputies made contact with an 89-year-old victim who said she was walking back to her car after shopping when she was approached by a man outside the store who was asking for money.

When she refused to give him money the man reached out and tried to grab her purse, said Banuelos. She was able to hold on and in doing so, she fell back and hit her head.

A witness standing nearby saw this happening and yelled out to the man who ran to his car and drove away.

The victim was able to give a vague description of the man.  Deputies also learned the suspect drove away in a car that was reported stolen.

The man appears to be in his early 20's, wearing a grey hooded sweat shirt with a black shirt underneath, a black hat and carrying a back pack. The second suspect appears to be a white man in his early 20's, wearing a black and grey flannel shirt with a red and white baseball cap.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
