Saguaro cacti sprayed with graffiti

By Simone Del Rosario. CREATED May 13, 2013

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Saguaros can stand the test of time, but Saguaro National Park rangers say someone is ruining them.

Vandals tagged at least eight saguaros on Douglas Spring Trail.

These are considered iconic desert symbols; some of them are 150 years old.

Eight-year-old Taylor Harris is outraged.

"It just makes me really mad," she said. "It's stupid that someone would hurt the environment. I would clean up anything -- do anything to help the environment."

But rangers are finding the cleanup is a major problem. They are researching, but haven't figured out how to fix the cacti without harming them more.

And they are still investigating who did it.

If you have any information regarding this weekend's vandalization, you're urged to call (520) 733-5150.
