TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - It reads like a movie script. A Tucson girl with big dreams heads to Hollywood and it ended in murder.
Two years into her modeling and acting career in March 2008, authorities found Juliana Redding strangled and beaten to death in her Santa Monica home.
This morning, the trial gets underway for her accused killer with the jury selection.
Prosecutors say 47-year-old Kelly Soo Park carried out the hit. They say Park worked for Dr. Munir Uwaydah.
Redding's father Greg backed out of plans to do business with Uwaydah days before his daughter's murder.
The prosecution says Uwaydah bragged that park was a "female James Bond" who he could rely on to take care of business.
Uwaydah isn't facing charges, but court documents show prosecutors say Uwaydah paid Park $250 thousand weeks before the murder.
Investigators say DNA evidence also links Park to the crime.
Legal experts say the defense will likely point to other persons of interest.
