UPDATE: Boy stung 100+ times stable following rescue

By Taylor Avey. CREATED May 12, 2013
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Emergency medical personnel responded to multiple hikers who were stung by bees during a morning hike on an Oro Valley trail.

Capt. Will Seeley with Golder Ranch Fire District tells KGUN9 that rescue crews, search and rescue volunteers and Pima County deputies are teaming up to rescue and assist five hikers who were attacked by bees Sunday morning.

One of the hikers who was attacked is a 6-year-old boy, according to Pima County deputies.

Peine tells KGUN9 that the boy was stung more than 100 times, but he is now in stable, but guarded, condition.

The hikers were hiking the Linda Vista Trail when they were attacked by the bees, Seeley said.
