TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Tucson Police Department reports the U.S. Marshals Service has taken former officer Martin Ward into custody Friday. Ward is under investigation for sharing and distributing child pornography.
Sgt. Chris Widmer first told KGUN9 that an arrest warrant had been issued for 29-year-old Martin Ward Friday after an investigation turned up child pornography in his home.
In March, the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit started an investigation of someone sharing and distributing child porn in the Tucson area.
Tucson detectives identified an online user on the east side sharing multiple files of interest.
The investigation led detectives to a home in the 9200 block of East Palm Tree Drive. During a search of the home with a warrant, detectives found multiple videos depicting child porn.
His arrest warrant is for one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, but further charges are pending.
Ward was hired by Tucson Police in 2007, but he resigned in 2012 in lieu of termination after an unrelated internal investigation.
Widmer says Ward was a beat officer on the east side.
