PATAGONIA (KGUN9-TV) - A Deputy Marshal in Santa Cruz County was sent to the hospital Sunday evening after a vicious dog attack.
It happened Sunday evening in Patagonia, where a dangerous pit bull, recently sprung from animal control, is still on loose.
But in this case, the attacker was no pit.
It was a puny chihuahua.
According to the Marshal's office, Deputy Marshal Rick Deyo was taking the pup from its owners, who said it was too aggressive, when it struck!
Deyo sustained a few puncture marks to the hand.
He has not been placed on medical leave, but is waiting on the results of a rabies test, since the owner did not vaccinate the dog.
This comes amid a reported rise in dog attacks in Patagonia.
9OYS brought you a story a few weeks ago of a rabid pitbull, taken into custody, and sprung hours before she was set to be put down.
We have received no new information on that case tonight.
