Police: 22-year-old man arrested for attempted abduction
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Alberto Martinez, 22, has been arrested for an attempted abduction.
Sgt. Maria Hawke tells KGUN that on May 5, officers responded to reports of an attempted abduction in the 1400 block of North Wilmot Road.
Officers learned a 15-year-old female had been walking towards a bus stop in the 1400 block of North Wilmot Road after visiting a family member at a condo complex located in the 1600 block of North Wilmot Road, said Hawke.
The 15-year-old told officers that she left the complex at approximately 2:20 p.m. While walking, she noticed an adult man walking from the complex in the same direction. The man approached her from behind and grabbed her. He told the 15-year-old female that he was going to take her and implied that he would “hide her.”
The female fought against the man and was ultimately able to break free. She immediately ran to a nearby business and called her mother, who then called 9-1-1 to report the incident.
As officers responded to the area, they took note of another incident, which had been reported in the area, involving an unknown man who was causing a disturbance and exhibiting unusual behavior in the complex located in the 1600 block of North Wilmot Road.
The suspect description from both incidents were very similar, said Hawke.
Officers have arrested for Martinez on one count of attempted kidnapping and one count of aggravated assault.
