Crews battle brush fire with 12-foot high flames
PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A brush fire Tuesday night burned 9 acres and spread onto the Tohono O'odham reservation.
Tracy Koslowski with Drexel Heights Fire District tells KGUN9 that someone called 911 after seeing the fire from their window.
The fire burned 9 acres in the area south of Partridge and west of Mission. It also spread onto the reservation.
Homes were a concern but firefighters were able to stop the flames from spreading to any structures.
At one point, Koslowski says the flames were 12-feet high. The fire was hard to fight because of low access to roads, and fire hydrants in the rural area.
The fire was under control just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Crews from Green Valley Fire, Northwest Fire, Tohono O'odham Fire and Pima County Sheriff's assisted Drexel Heights.
