Firefighters battle duplex fire, residents evacuated

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Firefighters responded to a duplex fire early Tuesday morning.
Capt. Barrett Baker with Tucson Fire tells KGUN9 that crews were on the scene in the 300 block of West Irvington after receiving numerous 9-1-1 calls about a fire.
Firefighters evacuated the duplex as a precaution.
Several people have been displaced as a result of the fire. Also, numerous residents are being treated for smoke inhalation.
The Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Red Cross, Disaster Action Team is responding to assist six people over the age of 15 who were displaced by fire.
Westbound traffic at Irvington and 6th Avenue is being diverted onto Northbound 9th Avenue. Eastbound traffic is being diverted at 11th Avenue to either North or Southbound.
The cause of the blaze is being ruled an electrical malfunction.
