Law enforcement agencies team up to bust marijuana traffickers

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Several law enforcement agencies came together to take down a group of marijuana traffickers. 
 
Detectives from the Sierra Vista Police Department, deputies from the Cochise County Sheriff's Department, Naco Border Patrol agents, Douglas Homeland Security and Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms officials joined forces and arrested 10 people charged with multiple drug charges.
 
Cpl. Scott Borgstadt with the Sierra Vista Police Department tells KGUN9 that law enforcement officers tracked a group of people carrying bundles consistent with marijuana near Smith Road in Hereford. The officers then began an investigation. 
 
Investigators continued to observe the individuals the subjects when a pickup truck arrived near Smith Road and Clinton Road. The group loaded the bundles into the back of the of the pickup truck and proceeded to drive north on Smith Road, Borgstadt said.
 
Agents tracked the pickup truck to a residence in the 9400 block of Kedron Road in Hereford. 
 
Law enforcement officials obtained a search warrant for the residence and ultimately discovered 24 bundles of marijuana, over 535 pounds, according to Borgstadt.
 
Detectives also located two firearms and several items of drug paraphernalia consistent with selling Marijuana, Borgstadt said.
 
While at the residence, officials identified two people as 24-year-old David Dominico Suarez of Naco and 26-year-old Andraya Rochelle Schaffner of Hereford. Both were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, transporting marijuana for sale, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and prohibited possession of a firearm.
 
Following this arrest, Border Patrol agents continued to track eight people that had loaded the marijuana bundles into the pickup truck.
 
Agents caught up to the truck and arrested 28-year-old Joel Aljamiran-Ruiz, 28-year-old, Israel Cruz-Gonzalez, 20-year-old Horacio Ualdez-Rojas, 41-year-old Teodoro Cruz-Ramon, 35-year-old Arturo Gonzalez-Lopez, 25-year-old Jorge Luis Morales-Felix, 19-year-old Jose Angel Dagnino-Felix and 27-year-old Pedro Garcia-Mendez, all of whom are from Mexico, according to Borgstadt.
 
Agents arrested all eight of them and charged them with possession of marijuana for sale, transporting marijuana for sale and conspiracy to transport marijuana for sale, Borgstadt said.
