TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Rural/Metro Fire District responded to a two alarm fire at a tire shop Thursday.

Officials with Rural/Metro tell KGUN9 that firefighters responded with two alarms to the Jack Furrier Tire Center at 3645 S. Palo Verde.

Capt. Grant Cesarek with Rural/Metro says the area on fire was a storage area for used tires and used vehicles.

Crews had to act fast with the high winds to keep the fire from spreading.

Initial crews evacuated the building and kept the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

It took 22 firefighters about 35 minutes to extinguish the flames.

The plume of smoke quickly dispersed with the high winds, so no health hazard was reported.

No one was injured in the fire. The cause is under investigation.

No word yet on amount of damage done to the shop.

Northbound Palo Verde Road is down to one lane for the next two hours.
