Boston Marathon bombing investigators on eneter the third day of their hunt with an emerging picture of the target: a suspect or suspects carrying heavy bags or backpacks made of dark nylon. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, and officials haven't given notice about holding anyone in custody.

Senators say they plan to vote today on a bill that requires background checks on all gun purchases. Democrats claim they're still open to tweaking the bill to garner more Republican support. There are additional amendments around the bill that address gun trafficking and expanding security in schools.

More than 4,000 police officers are patroling London this morning, as former Prime Minister Margret Thatcher is laid to rest. Representatives from hundreds of countries will attend the event. The Queen will also be at the funeral. It's the first Prime Minister funeral she's attended since Winston Churchill's. Thatcher will be buried with full military honors.

Tucson's experience in the January 8th mass shooting may have helped save lives in Boston.
On January 8th, there were 19 gunshot victims, and just one trauma center. The doctors and nurses at University of Arizona Medical Center had to take all they knew, and adapt it on the fly.  And what they learned helped hospitals in Boston prepare for their own mass casualty situation.

A senator says police have a suspect in mind as they try to determine who mailed a letter that tested positive for poisonous ricin to one of her colleagues, Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi. Officers are giving Wicker additional security detail for the time being.
