TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A woman is dead following a house fire on the southside.
Tucson firefighters responded to the a home in the 1900 block of west Calle Cielo de Oro after someone called 9-1-1 to report a fire alarm sounding and light smoke coming from the roof of the home, according to Jeff Langejans with the Tucson Fire Department.
Once on scene, crews discovered a single-story, single-family home that was full of smoke, Langejans said.
As firefighters searched the home for occupants they came across 42-year-old Stephanie Floyd who was lying unresponsive in one of the rooms of the home, according to Langejans.
A bystander told firefighters that there were two children in the home, but after a thorough search, firefighters did not find anyone else inside the home, Langejans said.
Emergency medical personnel transported Floyd to the hospital in critical condition, but she was later pronounced dead.
Fire investigators are currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire with the help of Tucson police.
