TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The biggest student-run carnival in the country is back again this year and Friday the University of Arizona Spring Fling is collecting donations for the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
The Spring Fling Food Drive is asking for canned foods, such as canned meats, vegetables and fruits.
Spokesperson Jack Parris says the Food Bank is also hoping to collect tomato products, like diced tomatoes and tomato soup,
"Most people think of feeding the hungry during the holidays and our donations drop off dramatically in the first quarter," Parris told 9 On Your Side. "So food drives like Spring Fling and the other U of A food drives help us a great deal this time of year."
If you drop off four canned items for the food bank, you can receive a $5 discount on the $25 unlimited ride wristband.
The fair runs from 4 p.m. until midnight Friday. For more details on this weekend's Spring Fling, click here
