NOGALES, Sonora, Mex. (KGUN9-TV) - Six months ago the sound of gunfire crossed the border. The end result, a 16-year-old dead on a sidewalk in Mexico.

"He had all those bullets in his body," said family attorney Luis Parra.

On Wednesday night, the silence along the road where Jose Antonio took more than 8 bullets broken by chants and cries for justice. And no one wants that more than Jose's mother.

"It's painful and frustrating, six months and nothing's been done," said Araceli Rodriguez, Jose's mother.

The frustration felt on both sides of the international border. Americans and Mexicans joined together calling for answers from the Border Patrol. That lack of answers brought Jose's mother to tears.

"I think more than anything it's the manner in which he was killed," said Parra. "That's difficult for them to take in."

Supporters in Nogales, Sonora stood besides the grieving family Wednesday night. They lit candles, left roses and aimed their signs and their voices towards the Border Patrol camera right above them. It's the same camera that captured the shooting, hoping someone is watching, more importantly that someone is listening.

9OYS reached out to the FBI. A spokesperson says the investigation is ongoing, and that there is no timetable for it's completion.

Note: Border Patrol has confirmed the existence of video from that night. But no word on when or if that will be made public.
