TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Deputies arrested the father of two children after passers-by noticed the children were locked inside a car.
Deputy Tracy Suitt with the Pima County Sheriff's Department tells KGUN9 that someone called 9-1-1 just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday after they noticed that two children, a 1-year-old and a 7-year-old, were locked in a car at the Foothills Mall.
The car windows were rolled down about 6 inches and the children had been in the car for approximately 16 minutes, according to Suitt.
Deputies located the parents of the children inside the mall and arrested the father on a misdemeanor charge for the incident.
He was cited and released on scene, Suitt said.
Suitt tells KGUN9 that crews with the Northwest Fire District responded to evaluate the children, but they did not require medical attention.
