TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Police arrested an 18-year-old man for the shooting death of 23-year-old Marcus Johnson earlier this month.
Sgt. Marie Hawke with TPD tells KGUN9 that detectives identified Dimitri Romero as the man who began firing his gun on April 4 just after 9 p.m. in the 1100 block of E. 32nd Street.
Romero was charged with one count of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder.
Hawke says detectives learned that three men were struck by gunfire that night, after a verbal altercation in the street.
Police and Tucson Fire Department medics tried to save Johnson's life, but he died on the scene.
The second victim, a 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle and was last listed in critical condition.
The third man was also struck by gunfire but did not have life-threatening injuries and left the scene before police arrived.
Cece Campbell lives next to the scene of the shooting and across the street from the victim's family.
"I used to get a hug from him daily, so it's hard," Campbell said. "But it's harder because I have to support the family and I know the family is going to go through something terrible, especially the brother."
Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
