TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson firefighters responded to a west side house fire Friday that sent one person to the hospital with non-life threatening burns.
Capt. Barrett Baker with TFD tells KGUN9 that the fire happened at a house in the 1400 block of North Hualpai Road.
Several calls were made to 911 reporting a carport on fire.
Crews saw that the fire was threatening a neighbor's home, but were able to prevent the fire from spreading.
Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to allow smoke to escape, but while on the roof, they noticed that the roof was compromised and might fall.
The interior crews left the building for their safety and switched to fighting the fire from the outside.
There were no injuries to firefighters but one person was taken to the hospital after receiving non-life threatening burns.
No word yet on cause or the cost of damages but the investigation is ongoing.
The house is considered a total loss.
