TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - An adult woman is dead after she was involved in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday that caused one car to catch on fire.

Sgt. Chris Widmer with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that someone called 9-1-1 around 11:30 a.m. to report that a car was on fire near 22nd Street and Aviation Parkway.

When officers arrived on scene they found a two-vehicle collision and one of the vehicles was engulfed in flames, Widmer said.

The woman, 21-year-old Alina Bourger, was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency medical personnel with the Tucson Fire Department transported another person to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Widmer.

During the investigation, detectives learned that a black Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on East Aviation in the center lane. A silver Toyota Corolla was initially facing eastbound in the left turn lane to complete a left turn onto eastbound 22nd Street, Widmer said.

The Corolla did not yield the right of way to the Ford and the driver of the Ford was not able to avoid a collision, according to Widmer.

Both vehicles came to a stop just west of the traffic signal in the intersection and both were severely damaged. Following the collision, the Toyota burst into flames, Widmer said.

Police say drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the collision.
