Man arrested for arson after east side house fire
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man was arrested for arson after a fire at his east side home Tuesday night.
Capt. Barrett Baker with TFD tells KGUN9 that the man lives at the home in the 6200 block of east 16th Street and was charged with one count of arson of an occupied structure and criminal damage of $10,000 or more.
Baker says the fire broke out in the 6200 block of east 16th St. at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The first crew to arrive at an east side house fire Tuesday night, learned of the fire by a person who came to the station to tell them.
The home is near Broadway Boulevard and Wilmot Road, where there is also a fire station nearby.
Baker says someone alerted a crew at that station who had just returned from a brush fire call.
The crew got word of the house fire before being dispatched, and arrived within 45 seconds.
There were no injuries to the resident, or to firefighters, but the cause is still under investigation.
Baker says there was heavy damage to two of the bedrooms in the home.
