TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The driver of a semi-truck was sent to the hospital Wednesday after his truck crashed on Interstate 19.
Patrick McCarthy with the Rio Rico Fire District tells KGUN9 that the truck crashed after a tire blew out on the southbound side of the Interstate.
The truck banked hard left, crossing the center median and coming to a rest of top of the concrete divider that separates I-19 and East Frontage Road.
The driver was the only occupant in the truck and was air lifted to a hospital with traumatic injuries.
Rio Rico Fire along with Arizona Department of Public Safety and Department of Transportation remained on scene to control the leaking diesel fuel.
The trailer of the truck was empty at the time. It is unknown if the driver was wearing a seat belt.
