TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Deputies arrested a 17-year-old student at Pueblo High School for murder Tuesday after a 19-year-old was shot and killed Sunday.
Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department tells KGUN9 that deputies responded to the 6400 block of South Camino de la Tierra Sunday where they found Jesus Duarte critically injured.
He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Detectives learned that witnesses heard a man pleading for his life followed by several gun shots.
Detectives also learned that Duarte had an intimate affair with a girl who was in a relationship with Sammy Anthony Terrazas Jr., who was later arrested as a suspect.
According to detectives, Terrazas Jr. led Duarte outside of his house and shot him multiple times.
Detectives followed leads on Tuesday that led them to Pueblo High School where they saw the Terrazas' vehicle. They located him, but he tried to run away.
He was then apprehended and taken into custody, before being booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on a charge of first degree murder. He is being charged as an adult.
Terrazas is a student at Pueblo High School.
