TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Gov. Jan Brewer has created a new online tool that will allow Arizona parents, students, teachers and school leaders to see how newly-proposed funding will benefit local schools.
With the online K-12 Performance Funding Calculator, anyone can determine how Brewer's performance funding system will financially impact each school. The schools level of improvement and success will determine how much funding, per student, will be given to the school the following year.
"Performance funding is a huge step toward funding the academic achievement we want to see in our schools," Brewer said. "Transparency is critical to any education reform of this magnitude, so I'm excited this new calculator will help put this important information at the fingertips of Arizonans."
Brewer emphasized the importance of graduating high school with the skills needed to succeed in college and in a career in her 2013 State of the State address and "Four Cornerstones of Reform" policy agenda. The measurement of our schools based on letter grades "A-F" has already paid dividends in terms of raising accountability and transparency in our education system, according to Brewer.
Gov. Jan Brewer is pioneering a crucial effort to reward districts and charter schools for improvement and high performance to better prepare students for success. Investing in more resources for the schools will result in achievement with performance funding, Brewer said.
To find out how resources will be allocated for your school, visit the K-12 Performance Funding Calculator and input a value for your school based the school's A through F rating. The site uses a 0 to 200 point scale, with 200 points given to schools with an "A" rating and a 0 given to schools with an "F" rating.
