TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A 62-year-old man died Tuesday in an accident at Houghton Road and Tanque Verde Road.
Sgt. Chris Widmer with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that Randolph Kavrik died at a hospital after suffering critical injuries in the accident.
Officers say the accident involved a 1996 Mercury Marquis and a 2009 Toyota Yaris. Kavrik was driving the Mercury Marquis.
Detectives learned that Kavrik was heading eastbound on Tanque Verde Road and ran the red light at Houghton Road.
The other car was southbound on Houghton and entered the intersection through the green light. The front of the Toyota hit the drivers side of the Mercury Marquis in the intersection.
Investigators say drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash.
The driver and passenger of the Toyota were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
