NOGALES, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - Border agents discover more than 20 pounds of cocaine during a vehicle inspection this weekend.
Border Patrol agents seized more than 24 pounds of cocaine at the Mariposa Port in Nogales Saturday, according to Rob Daniels with the Department of Homeland Security.
Officers requested further inspection of 37-year-old Rafael Balvanedo Anaya-Arce's Chevrolet sedan as he was attempting to enter the U.S., Daniels said.
Daniels tells 9OYS that during the inspection, a Customs and Border Protection narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs. Upon even further inspection, agents discovered 10 packages of cocaine throughout Anaya-Arce's vehicle.
Agents arrested Anaya and turned him over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations, according to Daniels.
