TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - A blown tire is being blamed for triggering a rollover crash in Tempe that left two people dead and three others with life-threatening injuries.

ABC15 News in Phoenix reports five people were inside a Ford SUV when the left-rear tire tread separated Sunday along State Route 101.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the driver lost control, sending the vehicle rolling several times onto the U.S. 60 entrance ramp - ejecting all four passengers.

The driver, 59-year-old John Gamero, of Gilbert, was trapped in the SUV and died at the scene. Fifteen-year-old Elana Stephenson, of Chandler, was taken to Maricopa Medical Center, where she died.

The other passengers were taken to hospitals. Their conditions weren't available Monday.

DPS officials say it appears no one was wearing a seatbelt.
