TEMPE (KGUN9-TV) The Arizona Cardinals have fired coach Ken Whisenhunt and General Manager Rod Graves.
The Cardinals finished their season on Sunday with a 27-13 loss in San Francisco. After starting 4-0, Arizona lost 11 of its final 12 games. The Cardinals season was marred by ineffective play at quarterback. Following the injury to Kevin Kolb, John Skelton and Ryan Lindley struggled so much that Cardinals started Brian Hoyer as their fourth different starting quarterback in the final week.
The dismissal marks the end of Whisenhunt's six year tenure in Arizona. He led the Cardinals to their only Super Bowl appearance, in which they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Graves has led personnel decisions since 2003.
Six assistant coches were also let go, but not defenive coordinator Ray Horton, who may be an internal candidate for the head coaching position.
Whisenhunt, finished with a record of 49-53 in Arizona.
