Police detain two suspects after ground search in midtown

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Officers detained two men who attempted to break into a car in midtown Thursday.
Sgt. Chris Widmer with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that the two men, one adult and one 16-year-old tried to break into a car at 630 N. Alvernon Way when someone noticed them.
That citizen chased the two men when they ran off, and one of the suspects pointed a rifle at him.
The person stopped and called 911 and police found the two suspects but they ran off again.
Police set up a perimeter and conducted a ground search, eventually capturing both men.
A police K-9 officer bit the 16-year-old. They are both in police custody until charges can be brought against them.
There was heavy police activity in the area as police tried to find the two men.
