TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - On Wednesday, the Arizona Department of Health Services issued its first license to a medical marijuana dispensary in Tucson.
Southern Arizona Integrated Therapies is located in a shopping plaza on Broadway and Kolb.
The owner, who declined to go on camera, tells us -- they are still working on their hours of operation before doors open for business.
Ken Sobel, general manager of Green Halo, another dispensary on I-10 and Wilmot is also days away from getting a final inspection for its license.
He says the opening of these medical marijuana dispensaries will fill a void in Tucson.
"This is a win-win for the community, it's a win for the patients who need the medicine -- it's a win for the community that's desperate for jobs and economic development," he said.
He hopes it will help change the perception of medical marijuana.
"If you've ever met someone who has a loved one that you're taking care of, perhaps a husband or wife, children who need this medicine... (you) understand how important it is," he said "And as more people understand that, even more people will embrace medical marijuana."
