TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Two men crashed their truck Tuesday after fleeing from deputies to avoid a burglary arrest.
Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department tells KGUN9 that deputies were doing extra patrols in the Camino Verde Estates area Tuesday afternoon because of a recent increase in burglaries.
They were told by a resident of a suspicious vehicle with two Hispanic males.
A deputy attempted to pull over the white Chevrolet truck for a traffic stop, and noticed items in the bed that he thought might have been stolen.
The truck suddenly drove off at a high speed and deputies followed.
At one point during the pursuit, the truck came straight at a patrol car and the deputy had to swerve to avoid being hit head on.
The truck eventually crashed and rolled over near Dakota Street and Caballo Road.
Two men, Ricardo Valdez and Rey Castillo climbed out of the truck and ran.
Deputies apprehended them shortly after the crash and they were both arrested.
Valdez had to be taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The items they had in the bed of the truck were stolen from a burglary that happened in the 5300 block of South Spencer Road.
Both were booked into the Pima County Jail.
