Non-profit looking to find permanent memorial for Jan. 8 shooting victims

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Nearly two years after the January 8 shooting, six-rocks remain at the shopping center where it all happened.
Now, a group of survivors and victim families are looking to find a permanent memorial to pay their respects.
The non-profit, called the 'January 8th Memorial Foundation' was started earlier this year to help make that happen.
"People need a place to go to reflect and to really counter the tragedy," said Stephen Brigham, director of capital planning and projects for the University of Arizona Health Network.
This month, the group plans to meet to get feedback on where a permanent memorial should go -- and whether there should be two.
The non-profit is not soliciting money at this time, but they have gotten two anonymous donations totaling $50,000.
They plan to get more involved with the community starting next year. As for a timeframe, members say it could be years before everything is completed.
