TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - In the past week, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized 1,691 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $845,500. Agents also arrested four people with significant sexual criminal histories, including 38-year-old Eduardo Morales.
In a news release, Tucson Sector Border Patrol said Morales had several prior sex offenses that included sex with a minor; earning him a conviction in 2009 in California and a four-year prison sentence. Records also indicate that he was recently removed from the U.S. through California.
During vehicle stops at various checkpoints, Tucson Sector agents also discovered that smugglers were attempting to bring several individuals into the U.S.
One incident involved a 42-year-old U.S. citizen, Glenda Luna. She was arrested Tuesday evening at the Interstate 19 checkpoint for allegedly attempting to smuggle two Mexican nationals into the United States.
All individuals arrested face possible prosecution.
