TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Deputies arrested a woman after she pawned jewelry that belonged to an elderly woman she cared for.
Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department tells KGUN9 that Sylvia Delgado Cruz, 63, had access to the residence of an 86-year-old woman staying at the Fountains Assisted Living Facility.
The daughter of the elderly woman reported to detectives that nine pieces of jewelry worth several thousand dollars were missing.
The woman and her daughter gave detectives a list of people who had access to the residence and during the investigation, detectives learned that Cruz had pawned some of the jewelry at a local pawn shop.
The items pawned were identified by the elderly woman, and Cruz told detectives about four other pieces of jewelry that were in her house.
Cruz was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on charges of theft and trafficking of stolen property.
