TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A Pinal County K-9 deputy found nearly $80,000 worth of marijuana during a traffic stop.
Hector Torres Adorno, 41, was pulled over on westbound I-8 near milepost 175, an area known as a major drug smuggling corridor, for numerous traffic violations, according to Tim Gaffney with the Pinal County Sheriff's Department.
Gaffney tells KGUN9 that upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and Adorno seemed extremely nervous.
The deputy then noticed a blue blanket covering up what appeared to be several packaged bundles. After looking under the blanket, the deputy found five bundles of marijuana.
The marijuana weighed 110 pounds and had a street value of $77,000.
Adorno was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for one count of possession of marijuana, one count of possession of marijuana for sale and one count of transportation of marijuana.
