Green Valley, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A man is dead and another is injured after a vehicle roll over accident off of I-19.

Emergency crews from the Green Valley Fire District responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident near I-19 and Sahuarita Road just before 11:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, according to Battalion Chief William Rowe with the Green Valley Fire District.

Rowe tells KGUN9 that once on scene, crews found a single four-door sedan that had substantial damage. He says the vehicle was reported as initially traveling southbound on I-19 before it left the roadway, crossed the median and northbound lanes and rolled multiple times. The vehicle finally came to rest on it's wheels on the northbound shoulder.

The driver of the sedan was a man who was pronounced dead on the scene due to traumatic injuries that were sustained in the rollover accident. A helicopter was called out to search the area for other potential victims, but no additional occupants of the vehicle were located.

Shortly after one northbound lane was reopened after the accident, a two-vehicle rear-end accident occurred at the same location, near I-19 and Sahuarita Road, according to Rowe. As a result of this accident, one person had to be transported to a local hospital.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Green Valley Fire District, Southwest Ambulance, Rural/Metro Fire Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Sahuarita Police Department.
