PHOENIX (AP) - Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies have arrested seven people at a Phoenix workplace for allegedly using false identification.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio issued a statement after Thursday morning's raid saying his office received a tip in January that several workers at Nu Look Revinyling might be using fake IDs to get work. The business repairs and refinishes outdoor furniture.
The sheriff says a search of employment records showed a number of employees were using false identification. Two were reportedly using a dead person's Social Security number.
Arpaio's criminal employment unit has made 647 arrests during 66 workplace raids in recent years. He says 460 arrests involved illegal immigrants using fake or stolen IDs to get jobs.
A woman who answered the phone at Nu Look Revinyling says the owner has no comment.
