TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A 22-year-old man who is currently in the Pima County Jail on a murder charge, was identified by police in a separate murder investigation, according to Sgt. Chris Widmer with TPD.
Widmer tells KGUN9 that Victor Lizardi has been in jail since August of last year on charges in the murder of 43-year-old Michael Smith.
On Monday, Lizardi was served with additional charges of first degree murder, armed robbery and prohibited possessor, related to the murder of 24-year-old Francisco Pereida.
On Aug. 16, 2011, police responded to the area of West Mable Street and North 14th Avenue in response to a shooting.
Officers found Pereida in the road, with gunshot wounds.
He later died at a nearby hospital.
Detectives continued the investigation, which led them to serve Lizardi with the additional charges.
