TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) The San Diego Padres have not renewed the contract of Terry Kennedy, who managed the Padres Triple A affiliate in each of the past three years.
The Tucson Padres finished in last place in each of their two seasons in Tucson. Kennedy has been a manager in the minor leagues for 11 seasons. As a player, he was a Major League All-Star four times, and he played in two World Series.
Randy Smith, the San Diego Padres Vice President of Player Development & International Scouting, stated, "We have notified both TK (Terry Kennedy) and Webby (Pitching Coach Steve Webber) that their contracts will not be renewed next year. TK and Webby were both dedicated hard workers but we felt we needed to change the environment in Tucson."
Terry Kennedy was the manager of the Tucson Padres from 2011-2012 and Steve Webber served as the pitching coach during the same time span.
"We have enjoyed working with Terry and Steve. We wish them well in the future," said Mike Feder, Tucson Padres Vice President & General Manager.
