PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a teenager fatally shot at a west Phoenix park was trying to help his younger sister as she was being robbed.

Phoenix police found 16-year-old Andrew Murphy shot in the chest near the restroom at Marivue Park about 8 p.m. Thursday. He later died at a Phoenix hospital.

Police say an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault. The suspect's name hasn't been released yet.

Police believe the shooter had first robbed another teen at gunpoint in the park's playground, then tried to rob Murphy's 14-year-old sister.

They say Murphy was at the park with his sister and friends and was shot when he went to help.
