PAYSON, Ariz. (AP) - Southbound lanes on State Route 87 are reopened after a rollover accident involving an oil tanker near Payson.
The accident had closed the highway in both directions for 12 miles between Payson and Phoenix.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the semi-truck crashed about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday some 30 miles south of Payson.
It was carrying oil used to make asphalt.
DPS and Arizona Department of Transportation hazmat crews are working the cleanup. There's no immediate estimate on when the highway's northbound lanes will be reopened and motorists are being advised to use alternative routes in and out of Payson in northern Arizona.
Authorities say the tanker driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash isn't immediately clear, but DPS officials say speed hasn't been ruled out.
